Dear Sons and Daughters of Hungry Ghosts
Oh, Wolf Parade. Dock got me thinking about them and now I am listening to them. I'll admit I had forgotten about them for a while until Mike sort of reminded me by saying he was going to their show. I wish I had gone too.
I saw them about a year and a half ago when they opened for Modest Mouse in Toronto. I liked them then, and I like them now (I have acquired their first full length).
I think the fact Modest Mouse picked Wolf Parade to open for them shows Isaac Brock still has it, despite Float On. I'm tired of people ripping on Modest Mouse/Isaac Brock, it seems like a favourite thing to do for some people who feel the need to be so anti-success. I don't blame them entirely, but I do really have a man crush on Isaac Brock.
But, I was talking about Wolf Parade. Yeah. Their debut cd is really, really fucking good. I just may add it to my sidebar. To join the ranks of Kelly Clarkson.
I think I also have caught whatever throat business is going around.
It feels like a pint of blood has dried on the walls of my throat.

Shakes her lover's bones
So I've added word verification to my comments... I'm pretty much hoping that'll get rid of most of the spam type comments everyone is getting. So I'm sorry you have to take an extra couple seconds, but I think it's a good idea. yeah.

Abortion
I just wrote about half a post about kids, and the subject of them growing up too fast. But I just deleted it. Because the entry was starting not to make much sense. It was about how they drink and do drugs early but they really don't know much about dying. Or something like that. Yeah that's why I deleted it.

Everybody's Always Smiling
Lately I have come to stare at and study people as they get on the buses that I ride to school each morning. The large majority of people who board the buses are elderly asian woman, along with some young asian UBC students, and the odd old man who looks like he is riding the bus because he just needs something to do.
All of these people get on the bus with the biggest fucking smile I've ever seen, it's like they've never smiled so damn much in their whole life. I used to think it was because perhaps they didn't take transit very often and they viewed it as some sort of exciting adventure. However, I have begun to recognize many of them and everyday they get on again and they are grinning like, well, like fucking crazy.
I just can't figure it out. I don't understand how people are so happy to be riding translink, a service that has infuriated me in the last 3 weeks. And although they are regular riders, they also seem to panic the most when something out of the ordinary happens. Whether it be a slight change in route or the bus gets crowded, their smiles turn into a look of what to me looks like absolute terror.
Something disrupts their blissful joyride and they get frozen to their seat with fear. I pay little attention to the bus except for my stops, and I don't think anything of a change in the bus route that I wasn't aware of, or a passenger yelling at the driver, or the bus being overcrowded. These people view these things as a sign that it is their day to die, and they are only moments away from death.
But then they get back on that same fucking bus the very next day smiling like the first day they ever rode the bus.

Why I love Myself
Two self portraits, photographed during this past summer of love:

This features a characiture drawn of me when I was 10. In London, England. I liked soccer, then.

This one I took on one of my many, many days sitting on the couch watching television. This seriously constituted probably 300 hours or so of my summer. No joke.

Anatomy of an O.C. Episode, Season 3
(Based on 3 commercial breaks)
Beginning of main story:
Characters are relatively happy, despite the nagging events of the past that still cause slight emotional and relationship trouble. But nothing that they feel they can't overcome. It's like a new beginning, again. They go back to school/work and face what the day brings them. (It is possible they will be attending a new school or starting a new job)
But . . . a new character enters (or old character reappears/or character from part 1 of 2/or recurring character shows evil side again) and creates a predicament for Ryan and/or Marissa.
Sub plot:
One of the lesser main characters (Kirsten or Sandy or Julie Cooper, possibly Jimmy Cooper) becomes entangled with a newly introduced character who they have potential to bond with. Perhaps even romantically. The new character may or may not be of the same sex.
Commercial Break 1
Main:
The predicament is looming over Ryan and/or Marissa and threatens to ruin the good lives they have worked so hard and constantly battled for. But Sandy doesn't think the predicament if fair, and tries to use his skills as a lawyer to barter for the resolve of the problem. Sandy is informed that there is nothing he can do about it, and must allow a third party (the new character) to be the one who solely decides the fate of Ryan and/or Marissa.
The judgement of the evil new character is passed down, and is not in favour of Ryan and/or Marissa. At least one will be affected negatively.
If Marissa is involved in the predicament, Julie Cooper will decide to take matters into her own hands and try to shift the blame for the problem over to Ryan. She may also be forced to seduce someone.
Sub plot:
Sandy or Kirsten or Julie or Jimmy bonds with the newly introduced character over a trouble that they have, and are convinced by the character that the best idea is to not return to their family and face the troubles together, but to spend time away from them with the character, in a secluded setting. Sandy or Kristen or Julie or Jimmy agrees, and leaves for the setting with them.
Commercial Break 2
Main:
Ryan and/or Marissa are angered by the judgement by the evil new character and feel they were judged unfairly. They speak with the go-to character (possibly Dr. Kim) and beg for a re-assesment. Go-to expresses regret, but says there is nothing they can do. Ryan or Marissa feel they can change things regardless, and convinces the other to play along. An encounter is arranged with the evil new character, however it may not be an arrangement, it may be an unplanned encounter. Sandy advises Ryan this may not work. Ryan expresses that there is nothing to lose.
At the encounter, the evil new character says they have no qualms about ruining the life/lives of Ryan and/or Marissa. In fact, they even seem to enjoy it. Ryan becomes extremely frustrated, perhaps even angry. Marissa leaves, and the evil character expresses his true feelings to Ryan (and only Ryan) and shows his intent to make sure that Ryan and/or Marissa will have terrible lives for some time to come. Ryan is enraged. But doesn't do anything, because he knows he is being watched vigilantly by social services, and he doesn't want to put Sandy and Kirsten through that.
Julie Cooper goes about putting her plan in action. It will most likely get Jimmy Cooper in trouble with a loan shark (Julie needs money for her plan that Jimmy doesn't have). The plan won't work (it might briefly, but not by the end of the episode) and Marissa will surely find out about it, and surely dislike her mother even more for doing it.
Sub plot:
Sandy or Kirsten or Julie or Jimmy are in the secluded setting with the newly introduced character, and are bonding even more. They are enjoying their alone time, but Sandy or Kirsten or Julie or Jimmy don't fully see the real intentions of the newly introduced character [But it is clear to us, the audience]. The spouse of Sandy or Kristen or Julie or Jimmy visits at the secluded setting, and is suspicious of the newly introduced character.
Commercial Break 3
Main:
Ryan and/or Marissa accept their fate, knowing that they were victims of a wrong-doing but try to go on with their lives in their new situation. They go to a school or high-class Newport event to try to take their minds off it. For a short while, they start to enjoy themselves and feel like the Ryan and Marissa of old. They share a moment.
But all is not well, the evil new character is also at the event. As soon as they spot Ryan and/or Marissa they approach them and express disdain that the two have not followed the judgement (the judgement wouldn't allow Ryan or Marissa to be at attendance at this event). Marissa says "Fine" and begins to leave, Ryan thinks it is unfair because at least one of them an be at the event with the other as a guest. The evil new character says they don't care, and that the two of them must leave immediately. The evil new character begins to forceably remove Marissa. Ryan says "Get your hands off of her/Don't touch her/Don't tell her what to do" and tries to gently stop the evil new character from removing Marissa. The evil new character warns Ryan that he is on thin ice and continues to remove Marissa, but now much more agressively. Ryan hits/fights the evil new character. It is broken up. The evil new character grins and expresses joy that Ryan has put himself in the position that the evil new character thought he would have to get Ryan in. Ryan and Marissa leave the event and watch from afar as the evil new character revels in his success.
Sub-plot:
The newly introduced character does something that evokes sympathy from Sandy or Kirsten or Julie or Jimmy and makes them think they can't dare leave the newly introduced character for fear of them doing drugs, drinking or killing/hurting themselves/someone. Sandy or Kirsten or Julie or Jimmy stay with the newly introduced character, and it is introduced visually that this character has the intention of seducing Sandy or Kirsten or Julie or Jimmy.

As for Seth and Summer, they aren't as important.
Seth will advise Ryan to not go back to his old Chino ways, and he will name drop Chuck Klosterman and a couple indie bands. Seth will put together a new edition of the Seth Cohen starter pack with a new theme. He might offer to sail someone somewhere. Seth will be cooky/funny.
Summer will express sadness that Marissa won't be doing something with her. Summer will do something she dislikes in order to assist Marissa.
Seth and Summer may have relationship difficulties.
All is unsettled in the O.C., we are left angry and frustrated.

You sir are worse than Hitler
I had something that I greatly wanted to post on here earlier, but now I've totally forgotten what it was. I have had bad back pains today. I hope it's not because of my tiredness because I anticipate being a lot more tired in the next few weeks.
In contrast to Hingston's post where he said girls were on his good side lately, I was sharing hat feeling up until lately.
Now they are in that ground where they just confuse me and make me gargle salt water. I hope they will make it back up to the toothpaste level.

Suburban Sunset

I took this on my last night in Ontario of the summer. It was in Oakville at my Dad's house. It was one of the most beautifully coloured sunsets I have ever seen. And I grabbed my polaroid. And I'm glad I did. I took it from the back yard.
I was in the process of getting drunk with my Dad, my brother, my step-sister and step-mom when I took it.

They Shoot Horses Don't They?
Is a very good band, and very entertaining live.
On a side note, last night was The Peak's 40th.
It was a really fun time. Dock proved once again why he is badass. Both musically and how to deal with hecklers.
Rick McGrath (Peak alumnus, co-founder) told me that I should go into advertising. This is based on reading my last column. But I'm taking that seriously, and I'll look into it. When I told him that I was going to school for photography, I believe he said "don't waste your time with that shit"
Wireless has picked up again in my basement, so I'm writing this. I will write more again soon, yeah.
I don't like suits and sandles.
